"Most of China's small-module gear enterprises are small and medium-sized enterprises, which will encounter more difficulties and challenges in their development. Transformation and innovation are the only way to strengthen the small-module gear industry," Dr. Shi Zhaoyao, Vice President and Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Gear Branch of the China Parts and Components Industry Association, pointed out when speaking at the 2013 National Small-Module Gear Technology Seminar.
The conference welcomed 112 delegates from across the country, including representatives from 5 universities, 3 research institutes, and 59 enterprises. It received 34 papers submitted by enterprises, colleges, and institutes nationwide. Twenty-five units conducted paper exchanges and technical lectures at the conference, covering fields such as new gear materials, new processes, testing technologies and instruments, gear equipment, and green cutting.
"This meeting marks the seventh technical seminar held by the National Small Modulus Gear Working Committee since its establishment seven years ago. It is the meeting with the highest number of received papers and participants, and also the one where the participants unanimously agreed that the level of papers was relatively high," Shi Zhaoyang commented on this seminar.
Wang Shengtang, a veteran expert in China's gear industry, delivered a special report titled "Industrial Upgrade of the Gear Industry" as a specially invited representative at the conference. He pointed out that the current government is actively promoting the integration of information technology and industrialization, with the core being information technology support and the pursuit of a sustainable development model. According to the unified deployment of the action plan for the integration of information technology and industrialization, government departments should strengthen overall coordination and macro guidance, focusing on enhancing public services and market supervision, and creating a favorable environment. Industry associations, with their advantage of being familiar with the industry and close to enterprises, are an indispensable force in promoting the integration of information technology and industrialization. In the complex and volatile market situation, enterprises are facing increasingly fierce competition. To develop, they must take the integration of information technology and industrialization as a starting point and embark on the path of industrial upgrading.
Yu Rennan, Secretary-General of the Small Modulus Gear Working Committee, presented a report on the work of the Secretariat at the meeting. He pointed out that small modulus gear manufacturing enterprises are mainly small and medium-sized enterprises and micro-enterprises. Their enterprise scale is relatively small, technological strength is relatively weak, social recognition is relatively low, social status is not high, economic strength is not strong, and product promotion ability is also weak. They particularly need industry organizations to further enhance their awareness of serving enterprises, establish information exchange platforms, and build platforms for serving enterprises, and do more work in promoting the application of new materials, new processes, and new technologies. After seven years of work, the Small Modulus Gear Working Committee has always adhered to one working idea: building platforms, independent innovation, harmonious cooperation, and creating brilliance together; one working goal: committed to improving China's small modulus gear manufacturing technology. The Small Modulus Gear Working Committee has a collective leadership and a group of backbone enterprises, working harmoniously and selflessly. Through monthly work bulletins, the "China Gear Technology Network", and annual technical seminars, it timely conveys government industrial policies, promotes and reports on the development of the industry, and conducts some analysis. In terms of technology, it provides some guidance, direction, and promotion for equipment advancement, tool development, and process innovation. Its work has also been recognized and affirmed by enterprises in the industry.
In his special report titled "Strengthening the Small Modulus Gear Industry through Innovation", Dr. Shi Zhaoyang addressed three issues: how to view the small modulus gear industry, the challenges it faces, and the necessity of transformation and innovation to strengthen it. As the Chinese representative of the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee 60 (ISO TC60), Shi Zhaoyang also provided a detailed interpretation of the new international gear accuracy standard ISO1328-1:2013. He emphasized that gear standards serve as the technical foundation for enterprises and are essential for aligning with international practices. The National Small Modulus Gear Working Committee must be guided by gear standards, collaborating on the formulation and revision of national gear standards as well as the promotion and implementation of new international gear standards.
Many enterprise representatives who attended the meeting expressed to reporters that this conference was a rare one with a strong academic atmosphere in China, and it was a conference that truly served enterprises. It was both a technical seminar and a promotion and application meeting for independent innovative products, which greatly helped enterprises. Visiting Shenzhen Chuangjinghui Precision Plastic Mould Company, whose unique management model was also deeply inspiring. Such conferences are welcomed by enterprises.
