Gear reducers are generally used in transmission equipment that requires low rotational speed and high torque. Common reducers for electric motors also employ several pairs of gears with the same principle to achieve the desired reduction effect. The ratio of the number of teeth on the larger gear to the number of teeth on the smaller gear is known as the gear ratio. With the continuous development of the reducer industry, more and more companies are utilizing reducers.

If gear reducers are not used properly, operated according to instructions, and maintained and lubricated regularly, they are prone to problems. Here are some common and simple gear reducer maintenance methods that are easy to remember. We hope they will be helpful to everyone.

 1. Oil leakage; cause, wear of oil seal and shaft; solution - replace parts.

 2. The oil seal adhesive on the mating surface has failed; to identify the cause, open the box cover; the solution is to reapply the sealant.

 3. Axial misalignment; solution - adjust the axial clearance.

 4. Oil cracks in the box body; solution - replace the box body.

 5. Noise; cause: the break-in period has not yet passed; solution: it will resolve after a period of break-in.

6. Loose or worn bearings; solution - adjust the bearing clearance or replace.

 7. The gear is severely worn; solution - replace the gear.

 8. The whole machine vibrates excessively; the cause is excessive coaxiality error of the coupling; the solution is to adjust the coupling.

 9. The temperature rise of the oil exceeds 60℃, and the temperature of the oil pool exceeds 85℃. The cause is that the oil level in the oil pool is too high. The solution is to lower the oil level.

 10. High temperature deviation in the environment or poor ventilation conditions; solution - add a cooling device.

 11. The selected power is relatively high; solution - reselect the model or add a cooling device

 12. Overheating and seizure of the bearing; cause: too small axial clearance; solution - readjust the bearing clearance.

 13. Poor lubrication of gear reducer (slow speed, insufficient oil, and other issues); solution - add appropriate oil or adopt other lubrication methods.

 14. The coaxiality error of the coupling is too large; solution - adjust the coupling.

 15. Premature wear and tooth breakage of gears; causes, overpowering; solution - re-select the model.

 16. Poor lubrication; solution - use appropriate lubricating oil and lubrication method.

 17. Backstop; Causes, Reverse Operation; Solution - Pay attention to the direction of the motor before starting the vehicle.

 18. Poor lubrication; solution - lubricate promptly.
